About Us

Environmental solutions are most successful when we engage scientific and community perspectives. Our overarching goal is developing sound science and community-based programs that protect and conserve water quality in Utah. The Rivers Lab integrates Research and Extension programs to connect water quality practitioners, elected officials, and citizens of the state to the latest research, resources, and tools for water quality protection. Our programs focus on protecting water quality during a time of rapid environmental change in the west - urban development, increasing recreational demands, and climate change put enormous pressures on our water resources, and we investigate management solutions and provide resources for collective action to protect water quality.
